Pinacosaurus was an ankylosaur from the late Cretaceous period. It lived circa 75-80 million years ago in Mongolia and China. Like all ankylosaurids, it had a bony club at the end of its tail which it used as a defensive weapon against predators such as Tarbosaurus. Pinacosaurus was a relatively small ankylosaur with a length of between only 4 and 5.5 meters. Pinacosaurus, which means "Plank Lizard," is known by more than 15 specimens, including two finds of several juviniles huddled together, evidently killed by a sandstorm.
